Body Piercing Location Information: Female Genital Piercing
Female Genital Piercing
- Hood Piercing.
- Inner Labia Piercing.
- Outer Labia Piercing.
Female genital piercings are probably the fastest growing piercings in terms of their popularity at the moment. The most common of these being the Clitoris Hood. Providing that the hood is reasonably well developed it can usually be pierced either horizontally or vertically. The horizontal piercing is placed through the hood, slightly above the clitoris with the ball closure ring sitting flat against the body and the ball level with the clitoris. The vertical piercing passes through from the underside of the hood and exits above the clitoris.
On a few women their anatomy dictates that one or the other of these piercings only can be done. If you are not sure whether your hood is suitable for a piercing please feel free to come in for a consultation with Claire, our female piercer.
The hood is usually pierced with a ball closure ring, but a barbell can be put through at a later date when the piercing is healed. Healing time is usually pretty quick at 4-6 weeks. As with all female genital piercings your urine is sterile to your own body (so long as you're reasonably healthy) and can actually help by bathing the piercing.
Sex should be avoided for approximately ten days and then a condom should be used for the remainder of the healing time even if it is sex with a long-term partner. The clitoris hood is probably the most erotically stimulating piercing for a woman and can help (quite a lot sometimes!) with attaining orgasm.
Labia piercings can also be performed, these can be either through the outer or inner labia. Most women have these piercings more for decorative reasons than stimulating ones, but there are women who find the feeling of them very erotic. Placement of these piercings can vary with anatomy and personal preference as the whole length of each side can be pierced. Most piercees find that a piercing through the upper (front) of the labia more comfortable. The inner labia take around 4-6 weeks to be fully healed whereas the outer labia usually take longer at around 6-8 weeks.
Healing time for Hood piercings on average is 4 - 6 weeks.
