Body Piercing Location Information: Ear Piercing

Ear Work

The ears are one place on the body where several different piercings can be performed.

Ear Lobe

The ear lobe piercing is by far the most popular and most documented piercing in western culture. The oldest record of pierced ears dates back 5000 years and there have been many superstitions and traditions linked with ear piercing over the centuries including the belief by saliors that it improved their eyesight. Ear piercing was popular with the Romans (Julius Caesar) and with the Elizabethans (Sir Walter Raliegh and Francis Drake). We can pierce earlobes with either a ball closure ring (customers get a choice of gauge and internal diameter to suit their tastes) or with barbells to achieve the look of a stud.

Healing time is on average 5-6 weeks.

Ear Lobe Piercing Prices:
Jewellery Material Each Per Pair
Plain Titanium Ball Closure Ring (silver coloured) £20.00 £35.00

Ear Rim Piercings

The ear can be pierced anywhere around the rim with a popular placement being a single ring or stud at the top. However you can, space allowing, have as many ear rim piercings as you like and can achieve very individual results by using interesting jewellery combinations. The Ear Rim, like the Ear Lobe can be initially pierced with either a ball closure ring or a barbell. Once healed these can then be changed to suit different styles and colour combinations. The addition of threaded spikes and cones and varying the gauge of the jewellery can all help to give an individual look.

The healing time is on average 8-10 weeks.

Ear Rim Piercing Prices:

Plain Titanium Ball Closure Ring (silver coloured) £20.00
Jewelled Titanium Ball Closure Ring (assorted colours) £23.00

Tragus, Rook, Diath Piercings

We initially pierce the Tragus, Rook, Diath and Front Helix with small ball closure rings which are available, either plain or jewelled, in a number of colours and metals. Once healed the jewellery can be changed to give different effects. For example small barbells or microbarbells can be worn with threaded spikes or jewels. It is also quite often possible to perform multiple tragus piercing.

The average healing time for these piercings is 8-10 weeks.

Tragus, Rook, Diath, Piercing Prices:
Jewellery Material Each
Plain Titanium Ball Closure Ring (silver coloured) £32.50
Jewelled Titanium Ball Closure Ring £35.00
Plain Zircon Gold/Blackline Ball Closure Ring (PVD coated titanium) £37.50

Conch Piercings

Unlike most other ear piercings we do not initially pierce the Conch with a ball closure ring. Instead we fit Conch piercings with barbells as these are more comfortable to wear during the healing process. It is certainly possible to have multiple conch piercings and to easily change to look of the piercing by changing the jewellery once it has healed. The Conch piercing looks stunning on it's own as a subtle, yet slightly different, ear piercing, however it also combines well with other ear piercings to provide a balanced overall style.

The average healing time for these piercings is 8-10 weeks.

Conch Piercing Prices:
Jewellery Material Each
Titanium Barbell (silver coloured) £32.50
Jewelled Titanium Barbell (assorted colours) £35.00
Zircon Gold/Blackline Barbell (PVD coated titanium) £37.50

Scaffold Piercings

At Flux we believe that the horizontal scaffold through the top of the ear is best initially pierced with two ball closure rings. These allow the ear to flex and move without constriction during healing, therefore reducing the risk of scar tissue build up. The ball closure rings are also much easier to clean as they can be turned through the piercing. Once the piercing is healed these two rings can then be changed to a barbell which is long enough to pass through both piercings. If a different placement of scaffold is required please contact us to discuss your options as the placement, and therefore jewellery, options can depend on your anatomy.

The average healing time for these piercings is 8-10 weeks.

Scaffold Piercing Prices:
Jewellery Material Each
Plain Titanium Ball Closure Rings (silver coloured) £39.50
Jewelled Titanium Ball Closure Rings (assorted colours) £45.50
Plain Zircon Gold/Blackline Ball Closure Rings (PVD coated titanium) £48.50

PLEASE NOTE: The above prices include both ball closure rings as listed, but in order to maintain choice, the Barbell needed to finish the scaffold when the piercings have healed will be charged separately, at the time of fitting. See prices below:
